Hollywood Studios ~ movies and more!

Wednesday, May 14th
We experienced some rain today ~ short bursts of heavy rain and then clearing up.  Some people just went home, but we had fun ducking under buildings and enjoying whatever was in the building we ran into.

"Gone with the Wind"
They have great displays of all those nifty outfits from movies such as "Gone with the Wind" and "Mary Poppins" , "Roger Rabbit", etc.  It was really cool to see the actual sizing of them.
A little mini musical of "Beauty and the Beast" ~ it was very popular and filled up fast so that I couldn't save the rest of the family a seat.  We were split up but it was still great fun.  Even though I had an annoying kid kicking me and squirming and generally being an annoyance to all around.  Finally she got her way, sat on her Mom's lap and stopped  screaming.  Thankfully that was our only experience like that.

The performances were generally flawless and done with great energy.  A great example to others and a pleasure to watch and get lost in the story.
Mei and Kate watching Beauty and the Beast

Inside another building during a down pour, we came upon these quizzes...

Which character are you?
Apparently Ruth and Mei are Tinker Bell and Kate and I are Belle.

American Idol in Disney World
Learn something new everyday.  American Idol has mini competitions going on at  the Disney World resort to earn a special pass to auditions for American Idol.  Previous winners have actually won this pass from Disney so that fact made this more interesting.  We decided to sit in on it and got to witness 3 performers.  An engaged couple each sang separately and then one younger girl.
Maybe we voted for the next American Idol winner!
The man won, but I can't remember his name :(
Lots of Disney memorabilia

The line up wasn't very long in this part of the building, so it pushed us through rather quickly.  We were going into a movie of Walt Disney giving some of the history to his company.

Another example of a man with a dream....lots of set backs but he just kept going.
Now back outside and off to the Stunt Show.  Watch for times for the shows, you don't want to miss these!
Unfortunately the rain cancelled our showing of the Indiana Jones stunt show.  We saw the first 5 minutes or so...he ran away from the boulder!
The stunt show was very spectacular and we enjoyed every bit of exhaust and ozone that raced past our noses.  They put on a little show, then show you how it would look on the big screen.  Then they tell you how it was done.

Man on fire to the right
Cars jumping backwards over ramps

Motorbike and car chases

Waiting for the Stunt show

Treats for everyone!

The gift shoppes are always a blast and they never seemed to be upset or annoyed with us doing things like this.  That was a bonus, because we're a little weird like this.
We watched a special 9 minute trailer for the new Disney Maleficent movie coming out soon.

Gregg walking an invisible dog.

Tower of Terror in the back ground.  Their motel of choice.
Hollywood Tower (of terror)
The tour takes you through all the back entry ways of the 'motel' and then you get into the old elevator....you can guess the rest.
Jo had a recollection of  the "Hellavator" so she got off and waited outside.

Can you see them?

My girls take after their Father... a bit of an adrenaline junky

Kate was missing Cocoa, so she took this invisible dog for a walk

What is happening here?  I have no idea!

They also rode the Aerosmith Rockin' Roller Coaster a few times.  Incredibly loud and rockin' they said.

During one of the cloud burst we ducked into this building and wandered around trying to figure out what it was.  We went into one area that we thought was a mini drawing lesson...turned out to be Minnie's Dressing Room where she was giving autographs.  Joke on us... and she was a big flirt too!

Watch out for their noses... they'll get ya!
Whenever you meet a character, they will have a staff photographer there.  You swipe your Photo Pass card and then have access to these photos for up to 30 days later.  You can purchase them from Disney later on.

The Disney photographers will also take a photo with your camera

The photos don't show Jo dragging Minnie off by her hair bow after that little performance... ha ha
See her cute shoes in the corner?

For Uncle... look... it's an army guy!

There was a spectacular light show in the evening, and getting there an hour early was almost necessary.  They do things to keep the crowd entertained until it is dark enough to hold the show.  It was the Fantasmic show with Pyrotechnics.
The crowd leaving this was a little overwhelming, so we held onto each other and scooted through. 10, 000 people can go to this.

Parking $17
4 Mickey Mouse Bars, 1 Strawberry Popsicle $20
